Hard-alloy, self-sharpening crown boring bit SA-4 (СА-4) is manufactured under ГОСТ (GOST) 11108-70. The crown boring bit is armoured with a hard alloy. It is designated for core boring, mainly of slightly abrasive, monolith, slightly fissured and interbedded rocks: malmrock, sandy shale rock, rudaceous silty rocks, porphyrites, gabbro, quartz limestones. Material applied: body - steel 45 GOST (ГОСТ) 8732-78, hard-alloy cutters VK6 (ВК6) GOST (ГОСТ) 3882-67, solder - brass L63 (Л63).

In crown boring bits a double-core scheme of armouring was applied with the group consisting of four main cutters and side tools of VK (ВК) 8 Г5109 type and one cutter used as an additional undercutting tool Г5108 and installed in the flushing opening. Cutters in the crown boring bit are arranged under negative angle and are turned around their axis for the angle of 15 grades.
