Hard-alloy, self-sharpening crown boring bit SA-6 (СА-6) is manufactured under Technical specification (ТУ) 41-01-348-78. The crown boring bit is armoured with a hard alloy. It is designated for core drilling mainly of abrasive monolith and interbedded rocks of medium solidness categories 4-8 and partially 9 categories by drillability: malmrock, silty rocks, diorites, gabbro, porphyrite, quartz limestones.

The crown boring bit consists of the body with sludge and flushing slots as well as of welded main and additional cutting tools (hard alloy plates). Material applied: body - steel 35 GOST (ГОСТ) 1050-71, cutters - hard-alloy VK10KS (ВК10КС) GOST (ГОСТ) 3882-67, support plates - steel 45 GOST (ГОСТ) 1050-71, wrapping plates - st.3 GOST (ГОСТ) 380-71, solder - brass L63 (Л63) GOST (ГОСТ) 1019-71.
