Task

Mining Machines are often engaged in the assembly and launch of SBS machines — sometimes there are simply no qualified specialists at the customer's enterprises, so customers call our service team. In this article, we will take a detailed look at our experience in setting up an upgraded drilling rig using a real example SBSH-250MN-32.

This time our specialists performed installation supervision and commissioning of the SBSH-250MN-32 machine, which was also equipped with a new control system. The service department managed to meet 15 days instead of the proposed 26.

Solution

The mining and processing company needed modern equipment to solve a strategic task - 3 drilling rigs were working at the enterprise, but the customer wanted to redirect one of them to drilling and blasting operations. To do this, it was necessary to put another machine into operation, which was ordered from Mining Machines. The production time together with delivery was 134 days instead of 160 planned.

The equipment was delivered to the site in separate units — cabin, body, mast and chassis. Such transportation of drilling rigs is a common thing, because such large equipment is considered oversized and is delivered by 4-5 railway platforms. But this delivery method implies further assembly by specialists, so the client decided to contact us.

According to the contract, 26 days were allotted for carrying out all the work, but in fact it took our specialists 15. Of course, the main guarantee of such success is a lot of experience in assembly. Every second business trip of our specialists is a trip to launch SBS machines.

Difficulties:

But one experience does not solve everything — recall, the machine was with an upgraded control system, and these are additional difficulties:

The new software, rewritten and implemented into the control system of the machine, is what required the greatest attention of specialists. It is the SBSH-250MN-32 that is the first with such a modification, which means that for the assembly you need to take into account the experience of working with familiar models and instruction on the updated one.
No instructions. Instructions for the drilling machine, as when assembling, for example, household appliances, are not supposed. Instead, our service engineers went to the production of machine tools, where they were instructed and familiarized with the new control system. There they personally saw the launch process and the order of the upcoming work.
The weather conditions on the site are not quite hospitable — in low temperatures, any work is perceived differently. Our team admits: it was very cold. The equipment does not freeze, but the hands are quite.

Result

15 Days

It took us to complete this task. A period of 26 days is given due to the calculated average time of labor costs - each manipulation of a specialist is scheduled by the hour. But we did it 11 days faster — due to the experience and qualifications at the factory.

26 Days

We saved on the production and delivery of the drilling rig, which together with the quick assembly allowed us to win an additional 37 days for the customer.

The client was satisfied — the team of "Mining Machines" performed their work qualitatively, showed the company's employees the specifics of working on such machines, and also met the deadline. The most important thing is that the client's strategic task has been solved.
